Living cost in Canada:

Living cost in Canada for an international student is relatively cheap, especially if you were to compare to cities like London, New York or Tokyo. An international student should consider the following things first while considering, living in a foreign country:

Accommodation: Usually international students live in on-campus halls where accommodation cost is cheaper than off-campus accommodations. Here, students share rooms as well as other facilities like a kitchen, social area and laundry room with other students. Though on-campus accommodation fees may vary depending on cities and university, we would suggest to budget between CAD3000-7500 per year.

An international student may choose to live with a host family in Canada, which will give an extra facility to participate in various activities with the host and neighbors, improving English ability, exploring Canadian culture, which is also a valuable experience.

Transport: Canadian city transport system is well managed by bus and subway networks. Students can roam around the Toronto by TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) network which is dual bus and subway network spanning the whole city. They have annual, monthly, daily and single passes and the costs of the passes are as bellow:

Annual pass – CAD 1,098.00

Monthly pass – CAD 99.75

Daily pass – CAD 8.50

Single Trip Pass – CAD 2.50

In Montreal, the STM (Société de transport de Montréal) network covered the city with their 4 line subway network comfortably. They also have various passes which are as bellows:

Monthly Pass – CAD65.00

Weekly Pass – CAD19.00

Single (one trip) – CAD2.75
